My older daughter loves any type of chicken. Baked, fried, broiled, it really doesn't matter to her as long as it is some type of chicken. While other kids her age may ask for pizza or fast food for dinner, her first choice is always some type of chicken. I recently purchased Banquet Select Recipes Classic Fried chicken for her and helped myself to several bites when she couldn't finish it. Here is what I discovered about this frozen entree.
Banquet Select Recipes Classic Fried chicken is very inexpensive compared to other frozen dinners. A nine ounce package cost only $1.25 in my local supermarket. Other frozen dinners of the same size or even a bit smaller cost double or triple that price, so this was definitely a bargain. The front of the package pictures a large chicken thigh with a generous heaping of mashed potatoes and corn. The affordable price as well as the appetizing looking meal on the front of the box made choosing this frozen dinner very easy.
Banquet Select Recipes Classic Fried Chicken contains six hundred and ninety calories per meal. The entire package contains twenty nine grams of Fat, eighty five milligrams of Cholesterol and nine hundred and fifty milligrams of Sodium. That is the bad news. The good news is that this frozen dinner also offers four hundred and ninety milligrams of Potassium, five grams of Dietary Fiber, twenty three grams of Protein, ten percent of Vitamin A, fifty percent of Calcium and eight percent of Iron as well as other important vitamins and minerals including Vitamin B 12, Niacin and Magnesium. Although this dinner does offer a moderate amount of healthy nutrition, the amount of Sodium and Fat makes Banquet Select Recipes Classic Fried Chicken meal one that I would not serve very often to my family.
This frozen dinner entree is ready in minutes. After removing the film cover from the chicken and potatoes, the meal gets heated on high in the microwave for three minutes. The potatoes then get stirred and the entire meal gets heated for an additional one and a half to two and a half minutes. After allowing the Banquet Select Recipes Classic Fried Chicken meal to rest for approximately two minutes, it is ready to eat.
Overall I would give Banquet Select Recipes Classic Fried Chicken frozen entree three out of five stars. Although the chicken was very tasty, it was a bit on the greasy side. The corn tasted fresh, but the mashed potatoes were flavorless, although the texture was perfect. As far as frozen dinners go, this meal was better than average, but nothing spectacular. My daughter really enjoyed the chicken and corn, but ate very little of the potatoes. If you are looking for a quick and filling microwave meal that is extremely inexpensive, Banquet Select Recipes Classic Fried Chicken gets the job done. However, for a few extra pennies and better nutritional content, there are better options available in your grocery store freezer.
